About us
We have summarized Feltwood in…
…one sentence
We develop ecological industrial materials upcycling agricultural plant residues, replacing plastic and wood in many applications.
…less than 50 words
We develop technologies that allow the production of ecological industrial materials using agricultural plant residues. Our materials are 100% vegetable fibers, free of plastics, adhesives or binders. Recyclable, biodegradable and even compostable materials. A real alternative to plastic and wood in many applications.
…300 words
Feltwood is a Spanish startup that has developed an innovative process to produce ecological industrial materials.
THE CHALLENGE
Non-biodegradable materials, such as plastic, take hundreds of years to degrade and they do accumulate in nature. In the oceans, the intake of plastic waste causes the death of 100,000 marine mammals every year, and oceans already contain 1 kg of plastic for every 3 kg of fish. At this rate, in 2050 there will be more plastic than fish in the oceans.
OUR TECHNOLOGY
Feltwood has developed a patented technology to manufacture biodegradable industrial materials using vegetable waste. Feltwood materials are manufactured through an industrial process using the parts that we do not eat from lettuce, artichokes and many other agricultural wastes, without adding any plastic, adhesives or binders.
Our materials are an alternative to plastics and wood in many of their applications: furniture, packaging, insulation for buildings, boards, toys, are just some of them.
OUR MATERIALS
Using Feltwood material, different items can be manufactured, from flexible trays to materials that are as hard as the hardest wood and ABS plastic.
Like plastic, it can be moulded. Like wood, it can be painted, cut, machined, etc. The final product is recyclable and compostable, boosting the circular economy.
WHO WILL USE OUR TECHNOLOGY?
On one hand, companies wanting to upcycle their vegetable wastes transforming them into Feltwood Raw. This allows significant savings in waste management.
On the other hand, companies that transform Feltwood Raw into the final goods, looking for biodegradable materials to make their products, and doing so, increasing the number of sales and customers.
