Cookies policy
What are cookies?
Cookies are inoffensive text files that are stored in your internet browser when you visit almost any website. Cookies are used to remember your last visit the next time you return to browse this page. Although not many people know it, cookies have been in use for around 20 years when the first World Wide Web browsers came into use.
What cookies are NOT?
They are not computer viruses, worms, Trojans, spam or spyware, nor do they open pop-up windows.
What information do cookies store?
Cookies do not usually store sensitive information about you, such as credit card or bank details, photographs, your ID card or personal information etc. The data they store are technical, personal preferences, customised content, etc. The web browser does not associate you as a person, but rather your web browser. In fact, if you usually browse using Internet Explorer and then change the browser to Firefox or Chrome and browse the same website, it will not realise that you are the same person, because it actually associates the data with the browser and not the person.
What types of cookies are there?
- Strictly necessary Cookies: Strictly necessary cookies help to make a website usable by enabling basic functions such as website page browsing and access to secure areas. The website cannot work properly without those cookies.
- Preference Cookies: Preference cookies enable the website to remember information in order to change how it behaves or how it is displayed, and also your preferred language option or the region where you are located.
- Statistical Cookies: Statistical cookies help website owners to understand how users interact with the website pages by compiling and providing information anonymously.
- Marketing Cookies: Marketing cookies are used to track visitors to websites. The aim is to show relevant advertisements that are attractive for individual users, and therefore they are more valuable for the publishers and third party advertisers.
